On September 12, Houston Independent School District students who participated in a summer art intensive program centered on the wrkxfmly assignment debuted their work in the Kinder Foundation Education Center at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston.
The students’ photographs, showcased alongside work of other Houston artists, were the result of a month-long intensive which brought students from all across Houston together every Monday–Thursday afternoon. Under the guidance of photography teachers and Working Assumptions staff, students explored the interplay between work and family in their own lives. Students received professional-quality digital cameras generously on loan from Sony, and had access to extra open studio hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
We were thrilled to collaborate with the Houston Independent School District on this summer program and to see the students’ hard work and commitment rewarded with an exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. Our thanks to the Kinder Foundation Education Center and the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. The students’ photographs will be on display through mid-October.
