Project: Aquí Estamos (Here We Are)
Aquí Estamos (Here We Are) examines the complex stories of migration and the challenges newcomer Latino families are facing in one of the wealthiest cities in the world: San Francisco. This collaborative project provides disposable cameras for families facing systemic insecurities to document their lives, and the love and resilience that is found within their family circle and communities. The intention for this project is to reframe the camera as an intimate storytelling tool and explore how it can be used to counter-narrate stories of migration and injustices while fostering empowerment.
