Home Work: Teens Photograph Their Families
Forthcoming 2025
Home Work offers a portrait of contemporary family life in America, from the unique vantage point of the teens experiencing it. More than a decade ago, Working Assumptions began partnering with teachers to offer an assignment, called wrkxfmly, in which teens develop perspectives on the intersection of work and family through their own photography. Thousands of high school students from all over the country have participated since then. This selection of 160 images and first-person captions demonstrates that the teens are keen observers of the everyday, as they share stories that are by turns incisive, humorous, and poignant.
Working Assumptions Magazine
Launching in Fall 2025
Working Assumptions Magazine is a publisher of visual stories. The Magazine aims to provide many 'windows' into the give-and-take of family and care. We do not define what it means to 'family' or what it means to 'care' - we feel that by gathering multiple takes on these topics - people will find themselves or possibly see humanity anew.
