Eleanor Moseman is a photographer, videographer, and writer based in Central Oregon. She began her career in China, intimately documenting Tibetan and Uyghur communities. Her recent work turns to family: addiction, dementia, abuse, and the roles we take on, or have placed upon us. She speaks English, Mandarin, and Tibetan.

Project: The Memory Collectors

The Memory Collectors is about my life and role as a caretaker and daughter, and the chaos from addiction and abuse in my Appalachian childhood. The visual strategy is to portray emotions through imagery while conveying the chaos. The work combines documentary and conceptual photographs, family archives, collected items, writing, and collages. My parents are collaborators in the process. My father uses a Polaroid camera and writes memories and thoughts from prompts. My mother reenacts memories, moments I do not remember but that have been relayed to me over the years.
