In-Classroom Program
The wrkxfmly [work times family] exercise is a national program that gives learners and educators the tools to share their stories about the interplay of work and family through photography.

Our multi-week exercise is a free, innovative approach to learning that empowers students to tell stories through photographs. Throughout the exercise, teachers and professional photographers lead students through lessons that encourage a deeper understanding of family and work and teach the conceptual and technical aspects of photography, caption writing, and image selection.
Who wrkxfmly serves
Students and teachers from 9th grade to college
All learning environments, including traditional classrooms (photography, sociology, AVID, social studies) and non-traditional learning spaces.
How the wrkxfmly program works
If you are a classroom teacher, let us know that you’re interested. Drop us an email so we can share more information.
We provide access to the wrkxfmly web app, integrated print resources, a photographer co-teacher who is familiar with the exercise, and support from Working Assumptions staff — all funded by Working Assumptions.
Our curriculum gives teachers the flexibility to run the assignment in keeping with their teaching style and their existing class schedule.
At the end of the exercise, students are encouraged to submit their selected images for review by professionals. Outstanding photos will be added to our Student Collection, and awarded students will receive a Visa gift card.
