Project: Domestic Theater

Domestic Theater is a seven-year photographic and written chronicle of my life with my mother and my ex-wife in the Queens apartment where I grew up. What began as an exploration of our unconventional household has evolved as we have aged together and our roles have shifted. Through staged photographs, documentary moments, and autobiographical writing, the project examines caregiving, intimacy, divorce, memory, and the complicated responsibilities of family. Humor runs throughout the work, alongside frustration, tenderness, and loss. Domestic Theater asks what happens when the people who know us best become the people we depend on most.
