Project: See Me, Hear Me: Living with Disability in the American South
Set in the American South, where support systems often fall short, this project weaves photo-driven vignettes with first-person narratives to center voices too often overlooked—people with intellectual, developmental, or mental health disabilities, and those needing full-time care. These are not tales of “overcoming,” but of persistence, creativity, and love. More than three decades after the Americans with Disabilities Act, the project asks: Who is still waiting to be included? With trust and care, each story challenges assumptions and invites a deeper, more human understanding of what it means to live with disability in today’s America.
