Terra Fondriest is a freelance documentary photographer who resides in the rural hills of the Arkansas Ozarks with her husband, their two children and a flock of animals. Her journey into motherhood inspired the development of her documentary practice which evolved into her ongoing long-term project Ozark Life.

Project:
Ozark Life is an ongoing long-term project, weaving together the story of my family with others in our close rural community. It examines our personal connection to the land, the roots we have on it and what it looks and feels like to be a child growing up in the Ozark hills from the perspective of our family living it. The land plays the role of main character in Ozark Life, as it is the steady heartbeat of the hills and cadence of the seasons which dictate changes in everyday life that become a source of comfort over the years. I began photographing this project in 2015 and plan to continue for the foreseeable future.
