Project: Hello, my soft corner!

This project is a photobook that takes its title from the salutation of a love letter my mother wrote my father during their courtship.

My parents immigrated from India to a small town in rural Pennsylvania in 1973. I began making photographs there. Then, in 2023, my mother died. The book traces their life together and my father alone, continuing without her. It asks: What does the American Dream look like at the end of a life?

Since her death, I have been integrating my writing into the book, making visible forms of care and belonging that photographs alone cannot carry.
