Yeneca Kim, "58:23:00," 2018. "There are only two types of work in this world: the work we enjoy and the work we dread. But in order to survive we have to do both."
Yazmin Escamilla, "His Own Universe," 2018. "When he goes on his phone it’s game over. He gets lost in the worlds of YouTube and Instagram."
Yazmin Escamilla, "Just Wash It Off," 2018. "Sometimes when my mom is upset she washes dishes. All of her anger and frustration go down the drain."
Wyeth Purkiss, "The Chicken's Labor and Dad's Work is Our Breakfast," 2018. "My father is immersed in his search for eggs he will cook for our family. One day, my dad surprised my mom and me by bringing 32 chicks home. When they became mature, we had 16 roosters which we had to give away because of the noise they made. Raccoons, skunks, and possums have reduced our flock to six chickens. Four of them are Polish hens, a rare breed, the other two a brown hen and a speckled chicken. They lay about three eggs a day. My dad brings the chickens in at night, feeds them, collects their eggs and cooks fresh scramble eggs. Thanks to this hard work, our family always enjoys great breakfasts."
Wyeth Purkiss, "Feeling the Power of Water," 2018. "The whole family – my brother Mason, my mom and dad, and I – took a boat ride around the Rockland, Maine, harbor. This was the first and only time Mason would ever ride on a boat. On the water, Mason was so peaceful; he didn't have any seizures during the trip. He was there – present and enjoying the wind. He loved nature and looking at the trees. This was a treasured moment for our family."
Coker Novosad-Wagner, "Untitled," 2018. "My mother helps my father and me with yard work. She just trimmed a branch off of a rose bush."
Tessa Olivieri, "Sleeping Mom in Blue," 2018. "My mom gets so exhausted taking care of me and my brother all day and sometimes she just crashes. Even when she is asleep, our cat still wants to play with her and get her attention. Her iPad and her glasses tell us that as soon as she wakes up she has to get right back to work."
Tia Leidel, "Breakfast for Dinner," 2018. "My family has a very complicated schedule given that both my parents work. In this picture, my mom stands in front of the fridge, looking for ingredients to make dinner. Even though we can't see her in detail, her presence is still very much there. Her silhouette represents how omnipresent she is in our family. My mom doesn’t eat breakfast. She also picks up my sister and me from school and drives us home over her lunch break which means she only gets to eat later in the afternoon."
Tyler Reese, "Motherly Love," 2018. "New York can be described as a crazy city filled with chaos, loud noises, and rude people. But to me, it’s home. I live on the Lower East Side of New York City with my mother and my grandmother. Our family could be considered non-conventional, but I believe families come in many different forms. My mother always makes sure that the first thing she does is greet us when she gets home. She stops to kiss my grandmother as soon as she comes in the house. Upon completing this project, one of the most important things I learned was that definitions of family may be vastly different, depending on who you ask, but the love, hard work and togetherness it takes to hold a family united are common threads."
Kevin Vince, "Life as a Senior," 2018. "My family, which includes six people, lives on the Lower East Side in Manhattan. For this project, I decided to focus on my older brother, who is a senior in high school. For about two weeks, I observed his home life and his work life. I learned how difficult the life of a senior is—the enormous amount of school work, the dreaded college process, and the numerous graduation requirements. However, even with all of these responsibilities, he manages to excel. This picture shows how Kevin hogs the bathroom in the morning, making his outfit look sharp for school and work."
Sofia Araujo, "Striving," 2018. "A six-year-old wants to pursue a dance career. Her name is Victoria and she is my sister. She takes dance classes every Thursday. When classes are no longer in session, she spends her days watching aspiring ballet professionals on mom’s phone and practices what she already knows on her own. She is a very determined young girl."
Signe Meyer, "Untitled," 2018. "My family is both unique and average with regards to our family and work dynamic. All of us work: my sister and I work in the foodservice industry and my mother and father run an environmental consulting business. Since I began working, finding family time is difficult. Weekdays consist of schoolwork and weekends of work. We are also all busy taking care of our small ranch. Mucking pens and working with the animals uses up much of our spare time and makes up much of our family time. We never fail to have sit-down dinners, though, even if one of us isn’t home. Most often, it is my father who is absent because he travels a lot, but it’s not uncommon for my sister or myself to be missing if we work a late shift. Our family is strong and we care for each other very much despite the time we aren’t able to spend together. Although she could be considered a stay-at-home parent, my mother is perhaps the most hardworking member of my family. She helps keep the business afloat by doing taxes and billing, booking flights, and so on. She also looks after the family and the ranch when my dad is gone and manages our rental properties."
Signe Meyer, "Untitled," 2018. "My father is a mining consultant. He travels often and never for less than a week at a time. The cat in the picture is Odysseus or Odi. He is our family cat, but he is partial to my father. Of all of us, he may be the one who misses him the most while he’s gone; staying curled up in his empty office chair or perched on the cluttered desk in his home office."
Sarah T. Slaten, "An Unusual Workspace," 2018. "My dad works as a part-time teacher’s aide 4 hours a day. This summer, he will be running a Dungeons and Dragons camp for elementary school kids. He makes his own props and his creations are slowly spreading throughout the house. He keeps his desk clean since that's where he works."
Sarah T. Slaten, "Gardening Day," 2018.
Sarah T. Slaten, "Far Fetched," 2018. "In January, we got my dog, River. She has become the 4th most important member of our family. We all contribute to taking care of her and a lot of our family time is spent with her."
Anonymous, "Untitled," 2018. "My mom is very hard-working. She’s a seamstress and her sewing kit is loaded with supplies. She takes it everywhere when she works. Her sewing kit is about seven years old, but she won’t get a new one because this one means a lot to her. She keeps a picture of my brother in it to remind her that her children are always supporting her. She doesn’t have a fixed schedule, she can work mornings and evenings, depending on clients’ schedules. At times, she gets frustrated because of all the stress she’s under from her work. I’m a procrastinator but not my mom, she works continuously until she is finished. Regardless of how busy she is, she always makes time for her children."
Robert Wheeler, "Untitled," 2018. "The photographs I took for this assignment were inspired by my mother’s commitment to both her work and family. After work, she spends her evenings at home taking care of my siblings and me. When the house quiets down she heads back to work in her home office."
Olivia Parsons, "Buck Freeman Award," 2018. "Growing up fourth generation of our family business, work and family life have never been separate entities. My great grandfather started a small company in Iowa. Now my grandpa, mom, and uncle are in charge. They have grown the business exponentially to become a world leader in brand-experience marketing. In August, we celebrated the company’s 90th anniversary! In 2008, my mom won the highest honor awarded to an individual for outstanding work at the company. My grandpa handed my mom this award and I remember clearly how special and joyful that ceremony was for our entire family."
Rashard Peppers, "A Working Family," 2018. "A messy bathroom sink as everyone tries to get ready on a Monday morning."
Molly Ring, "Untitled," 2018. "This is a picture of my sister sitting in our family room where we often sit and watch TV together. However, in this picture, she is alone as she often is during the day when my two other siblings and I are at school. My dad typically works in the office behind her while she sits by herself watching TV."
Mariana Luna Valdez, "Untitled," 2018. "Coming home from school, my older sister is the only adult in the house and the one in charge of me and my younger siblings. In this picture, she's trying to study while taking care of us."
Yeneca Kim, "Connection," 2018. "I am calling my dad on my phone while doing my homework. I have a lot of school work but I still want to talk to him. I am waiting for him to answer his phone, thinking he might be busy working. This is how I communicate with my family. I am an exchange student from China. The time difference limits our talking to certain times of the day. He is busy and I am busy, but we still think of each other and try to remain connected. The phone in this image represents my connection with my family."
MR, "Untitled," 2018. "This is a picture of my dad working on a piece for his helmet. On the far left, there is a picture of my brother and me, which shows that he keeps us close by as he works… Recently, my father has a new schedule that requires him to stay out of town two nights a week and allows him to take Friday off. My goal for this project was to capture how work and the absence of my father have affected our family dynamics."
Mary McLiney, "Untitled," 2018. "My father is a bond salesman and part owner of the company for which he works. He picks me up almost every day after work and takes me to ride my horses. He always finds time in his hectic schedule to help me with my horses. Oftentimes, he doesn’t have the time to go home and change, so he wears his suit to the barn."
Mary Corrine Archer, "Untitled," 2018. "My dad pours chemicals into the pool to kill the algae. He likes to do work around the house and make everything look nice."
Marc Luciano, "Untitled," 2018
Mary Corrine Archer, "Untitled," 2018. "My dad occasionally makes his famous sausage. He loves to grill various meats for our family."
Madison Tea, "Daily Two-Hour Commute," 2018. "My mom usually picks my brother and me up after school. Her work is about an hour away and she has to wake up at 4 a.m. to drive there so she can come back early in the afternoon to pick us up. Her commute is very difficult because of the daily traffic."
Madison Tea, "Family Overseer," 2018. "My mom is the one who takes care of our family the most. We recently adopted a new dog who makes our house a big mess. My mom always wipes the floor to keep it clean."
Madison Williams, "Untitled," 2018. "This is my mom, Mary. In this picture, she’s at her desk at work wearing her uniform. My mom is a scheduler for Dallas Medical Center. She works hard and brings so much joy to the workplace as well as at home."
Luis Pani, "Untitled," 2018. "To me, what defines family is people who love and support you through the hard times and the good times. My family consists of my mother who works as a home care aide, my father who is a construction worker, and my little sister who is in 4th grade. Both my parents work very hard to support us but they always try their best to spend family time with my sister and me. When my parents come home from work, they are exhausted from their physically demanding jobs and often too tired to change out of their work clothes. Still, they always take time to inquire about our school day. My role as a big brother is to watch over my little sister when my parents are not at home and to help her with her homework. My favorite photo for this assignment shows my parents holding hands. It symbolizes the love they have for each other and the idea that they can get through any obstacle in life together."
Luanna de Souza, "Untitled," 2018. "Every single day, my dad wakes up at the exact same time and gets dress in the same order - first his shirt, then his pants, then his shoes. At the end of the day, he always comes home with a smile, knowing that what he’s doing helps our family."
Lindy Hickman, "Untitled," 2018. "The picture is taken at the gym my dad owns, where he is the head coach. In this image, my dad is holding big training ropes. His smile signifies his passion for coaching."
Lindy Hickman, "Untitled," 2018. "The picture is taken at the gym my dad owns, where he is the head coach. In this photograph, my dad is holding a hammer, one of his favorite workout tools that he uses to hit a tire with. You can see his focus and concentration showing how serious he is about his work."
Lindy Hickman, "Untitled," 2018. "The picture is taken at the gym my dad owns, where he is the head coach. The woman is of a client of my dad’s. She's intensely focused on my dad's directions for the exercise at hand."
Lindy Hickman, "Untitled," 2018. "The picture is taken at the gym my dad owns, where he is the head coach. In this photograph, my dad is bringing a medicine ball to a client. For this picture, I focused in on his hands to see their detail including the cracks and show how hard he works with his hands."
Libby Cohen, "Untitled," 2018. "My mother and brother shovel the dreaded April snowfall together to make the driveway and sidewalks accessible for our family. They work together to make it a fun experience, enjoying each other’s company. This image mirrors Grant Wood’s American Gothic painting, similarly showing how my family belongs in our home in Minnesota."
Kylie Knutson, "The Dinner Table," 2018. "In this photo, my dad and my sister are sitting at the dinner table while eating and talking about their day. Since my dad works from home most of the time, he is able to eat dinner with us. But my mom doesn’t come home until late, usually after dinner. The untouched plate and utensils represent the fact that my mom’s work prevents her from being home and spending time with her family."
KJS, "The Clock is Ticking," 2018. "My father, a former banker, is now self-employed, managing his own business. His work consists of reading over contracts and development plans, sometimes late into the night, to meet deadlines. He sits alone at the dining room table, gazing through the hundreds of pages."
Lara Franco, "Busy Nights," 2018. "My mom is using FaceTime to talk to my dad who's away on a business trip, while my sister tirelessly works on her SAT prep preventing her from chatting with our dad."
Keyon Croskey, "Family Vibes," 2018. "Mom having to take care of another baby. He is 5 months old!"
Kirsten Pacotti, "Planting," 2018. "My family lives on an urban farm, so in addition to the jobs we all have, we also have to tend the garden every other evening. To spice up our garden, my mom plants this weird plant. I think it’s some type of succulent. It looks really cool, especially in contrast with my mom's red hair. “Look at this worm and take a picture of it, Kirsten,” my mom says, as she digs the hole for the plant, “That worm is work and family, right?”"
Kirsten Pacotti, "Planting," 2018. "My family lives on an urban farm, so in addition to the jobs we all have, we also have to tend the garden every other evening. In this picture, my dad crouches down on the ground after scolding me for stepping on a mound, which is where seeds grow. He searches intently for any vegetables. I point out THREE times that there is a fairly large zucchini RIGHT THERE. He expresses his excitement when he finally finds it. “Oooh! Look at that,” he chuckles as he cuts off the zucchini."
Kirsten Pacotti, "Untitled," 2018. "This shelf holds pictures of my dad and objects representing his time as a firefighter and paramedic. My picture expresses his dedication to and love for his work and how that has shaped our family life."
Katherine Lorenzo, "Fatherless," 2018
Kaitlyn Day, "Memories," 2018. "This wallet belongs to my father and includes a photograph of my mom, my siblings and me. This family photo was taken many years ago, we are all much older now. The wallet represents the love my father has for our family and that he is hard-working, due to the wallet looking so worn-down. In doing this photography project, I realized that family is always around and will always be part of everyday life. Because family is one of the most important things in one's life, you should always have reminders of your family in your daily life."
Joseph Gaze, "Untitled," 2018
Jade Velazquez, "Untitled," 2018.
Anonymous, "Untitled," 2018. "With all the other work she does at home, she still finds time to help my brother with homework even if it means putting off paying taxes for another time."
Ian Matenaer, "Breakfast Time," 2018. "Breakfast time is usually a time when my dad and I have time to connect and eat together. But today he had to work, which interrupted our family time. You can also see our dog Tick begging for food."
Isabel Luna, "Untitled," 2018. "My mother starts work very early and gets up at 5:30 a.m. to prepare our breakfast. Because she drives us all to school, we all have to wake up early too."
Hannah Ryan, "With Family in Mind," 2018. "Working in an environment with kids everyday, my dad is constantly reminded of family. While he sits at his desk, he is visually surrounded by his family."
Genesis Harris, "Wide Awake," 2018. "I am tired but you are too busy on your phone to realize it."
Gabriel Konar-Steenburg, "Untitled," 2018. "My dad is a professor who sometimes has to stay up late preparing for class. Tonight, I am also up late doing homework. Dad always tries to balance work and family; he frequently offers his help and often suggests that I come work alongside him at the dining room table."
Genesis Harris, "Uncalled For," 2018. "While in the process of taking this picture, Egyptian jumped in front of the camera. This explains why she is out of focus as well as the expression of surprise on the subject’s face."
Genesis Harris, "In My Zone," 2018. "After an exhausting day at school, the best stress reliever is getting on the game for a few hours before calling it a night."
Gabriel Konar-Steenburg, "Untitled," 2018. "The communal living space is dark at night as everyone retreats into their own room to finish their work."
Emily Tobolka, "A Daily Reminder," 2018. "My father started his business in 1999. Since then, it has flourished from a few employees to over 50 employees. I love to visit him at his workplace and often leave him notes to help him get through his day."
Eric Volkers, II, "Sisterly Bond," 2018. "With work seeping into every corner of our lives, we still manage to take time away from our responsibilities in order to focus on what matters."
Emma Bogacz, "Untitled," 2018. "Here we see his tools and passport; what he needs to work abroad."
Emily Musso, "Family Before All Else," 2018. "Dad’s desk is busy with pictures, notes, and papers. He keeps a picture of my mom and me right by his keyboard where he works for most of the day. Among his mess is also a picture of my brothers taken on a snow day a few years ago."
Elsa Sheehy, "Hanging Baseball," 2018. "My dad uses this hanging baseball as an indicator for how far to pull the car into the garage. When I look out and see it floating there by itself, I know my dad is still at work."
Emily Martinez, "Routine - Tuesday, 6:20 p.m.," 2018.
DF, "Abroad," 2018. "My Mom talks to with my grandparents who live abroad."
Darren G., "Meal Time," 2018. "I live with my grandma and younger sister in Chinatown in New York City. For this project, I followed them for two weeks and decided to document meals. Since I don't live with my parents, my grandma does all the cooking and chores in the house. In this picture, my family makes time to celebrate my grandma’s birthday; my parents took the day off and my aunt rushed home from work."
Connor Powley, "Untitled," 2018. "Me and my grandma wake up early in the morning during the week so she can read the newspaper to me. We both drink coffee and, while reading, she will tell me what she thinks is important in the paper."
Cornell Walter Runyan, "Untitled," 2018. "My brother and my dad enjoy playing guitar. Together at home, playing the guitar is one of the ways they connect. My dad used to play in a band and had long hair when he was in college, so he likes to see his past self in my brother."
Cody Gutierrez, "Untitled," 2018. "The majority of the photographs I chose to take for this assignment were mainly conceptual ideas such as this photograph of the building where my father works. I feel this approach allows me to tell more of the story of what goes on in my family than if I had just taken pictures of individual family members."
Cleo Anderson, "Untitled," 2018. "Sometimes our hands are tied - prior engagements at work on a spouse's birthday or a loved one in the hospital during preparations for a big test. We all have to learn to make sacrifices for the common good and for others, within our own family or not. My father makes sacrifices every day for our family, even when they aren’t in his own personal interest."
Cleo Anderson, "Untitled," 2018. "My sister, a high school freshman, is already confronted with stress as a result of academic pressure and because of the social climate of her time. Her peering through a tear in a paper is a metaphor for observing the world through the lens of the responsibilities associated with work. She looks upon reality without distortion; her perception of what's important is influenced by the stress associated with coming of age."
Claire Hallaway, "Untitled," 2018. "This image captures what an everyday morning before school looks like in my home. My dad is retired so a lot of the work he does involves cooking all of the meals for my family. He says he enjoys waking up extra early every day to cook my brother a breakfast burrito or an omelet. My mom always helps set the table and will sometimes eat before she leaves for work; the empty plate in this photo was hers. This image is completely candid as my brother is captured checking his phone and didn’t even notice when I took the photo."
Katie Nalle, "Untitled," 2018. "My mom is working in front of the TV at night. Even though she works a nine to five job and does overtime, she still has to work very late at home sometimes as well."
CJ, "Untitled," 2018. "This is an image of my dad working on his computer at home. A lot of his work is confidential, so I was unable to take pictures up close. For this project, I wanted my photos to show the relationship between my parents' work lives and our family. My parents are really good at disconnecting from work to ensure we have family time. Sometimes my Dad does get caught up in his work at home, but it doesn't happen very often."
Brigitte Cruz, "Endless Nights," 2018. "My mom is overpowered with fatigue. By the time she is finished work, she has a small amount of time left for herself. She likes to spend that time drinking tea or coffee while watching the news. Most of the time, she ends up falling asleep on the table, leaving her drink unfinished and the television on."
Britney Williams, "Untitled," 2018. "Here is my dad, working on a truck. Everything for his business is always done at home. His office is in our house and is filled with paperwork. He is always working and I work too, so we don't get a lot of family time."
Ben Zeller, "Untitled," 2018. "Procrastination runs rampant as my sister chooses to start episode seven of The Office instead of completing her mountain of homework due the next day."
Ben Zeller, "Untitled," 2018. "We eagerly await the arrival of my mom from her seemingly never-ending work day and make sure nobody takes her special seat at the dinner table."
Ben Zeller, "Untitled," 2018. "Oftentimes it’s much easier to entertain oneself with the wonders of the Internet instead of actual human interaction. Though my family bans technology at the table, it still manages to creep in every once in a while."
Bella Russo, "Magnets, Memories and Milestones," 2018. "A menagerie of family vacation photos is pinned in commemoration on our fridge, next to an email congratulating my father on 17 (17!) years at his company. My parents work a lot, but they strike me as very “vacation motivated” people. Many of our most cherished family memories are the ones we make when my parents are many miles or oceans away from their jobs. When we return home, my dad goes back to planning our next adventure, taking lunch breaks to research flights and look at travel guides."
Averi M. Luze, "Untitled," 2018. "About a year ago, I started working at McDonald's. I usually work late shifts because of school and on weekends I stay until we close at midnight. Sometimes, I stay later, hanging out and helping close the restaurant. I end up getting home at around 1 or 2 a.m., as can be seen by the clock in this picture. Most of the time my parents are already asleep. They leave the living room light on for me and their bedroom door open so the dog can go in and out."
BD, "Untitled," 2018. "My dad is a very easy-going person. Sometimes, he can be very serious, but most of the time he’s laughing at his own jokes."
Atzel Martinez, "Matriarchal Tension," 2018. "They work hard for their goals, / Just like the rest. / They always take least, / But strive for the best."
Anya Ivory, "Untitled," 2018. "This picture is of my father and my brother late at night. My dad works all day and then has team practice or a game after school. He is also a ride-share driver and, more often than not, comes home in the early morning. On days when he chooses not to drive, he is generally trying to catch up on his sleep because he has to get to work early the next day. He tries to stay up and spend time with us, especially with my younger brother but he is very tired and often falls asleep."
Atzel Martinez, "Aunts Relaxing With Wine," 2018. "Those who dance and drink / To relieve their stress. / Because not even on Sabbath, / Can they ever rest."
Anya Ivory, "Untitled," 2018. "This picture captures early mornings in my house. My dad is a coach and a history teacher at my high school so we have to wake up at 5 a.m. to get to practice. My mom doesn’t wake up until later, so we don’t spend time with one another in the morning. In the evenings, my dad usually comes home late because in addition to practices and games, he is also a ride-share driver. At times, he doesn’t get home until 2:00 a.m. During the week, my mom and dad don’t get to see each other much."
Anthony Chen, "Untitled," 2018. "My mother works while my brother reads. One could not happen without the other, both drive each other. My mother works so he can go to school; she works for our future, she creates our life while we live it."
Anthony Chen, "Untitled," 2018. "My mother is compassionate, immersing herself in human stories. Taking her time to comprehend people’s sorrows. They love her for her understanding, and yet only we know just how hard she works."
Annie Kristal, "Untitled," 2018. "My father sits in front of artwork made by my sister and me, in his office. He loves hanging our artwork and pictures of our family because he always says “family comes first.” This was the first picture I took at his office, and he has a big smile on his face because he loves when we come to visit. On his wrist sits friendship bracelets that we made him for his big birthday."
Annie Kristal, "Untitled," 2018. "My father has many different paintings, cards, and drawings from our family hanging in his office. Family has always been the most important thing to him, and he loves bringing our cards and pictures to work to remind him of us."
Angela Villagomez, "Untitled," 2018. "When I see my dad’s hands coming home from work, stained, with cuts and scars, I’m reminded of how hard he works to provide for our family."
Andy Paxtor, "No Time," 2018. "This happens at the end of every day. My mom and dad lay down and watch TV to relax. You can see my dad doesn’t have much energy, he’s exhausted."
Andy Paxtor, "Late Nights," 2018. "To provide for our family, my dad has to work really late, often after hours, to get paid just a little bit more. When he gets home he’d like to talk to my siblings and me but he can’t because we’re already in bed."
Amit Sela, "Multitasking," 2018. "The overlap of work and family in my household is complicated and fast-paced. There is always lots to be done in a small amount of time, which can make things stressful. In this photograph, my mom helps my brother with his math homework while she is also on her phone, attending to a work matter. This project helped me understand how much my parents need to work to balance their personal lives and their jobs. It gave me a newfound appreciation for how much they do for us and with us because of how much they love us."
Amanda DeOliveira, "Multitasking," 2018. "In my family, my parents treat my boyfriend and my brother’s girlfriend like one of their own. We experience first hand the struggles of managing our work schedules and spending time with our parents and partners. When my brother gets home from work, he leaves his uniform on his bed along with the moose bear that his girlfriend gave him."
Alexis Lepetsos, "9 to 5," 2018. "This photo shows my mom pulling into our garage, returning from a long day at work. While the title is 9 To 5, the image shows her returning later than 5 p.m. indicating that work often requires more time than expected. My photo depicts the literal blurred line between work and family."
Alexis Gilio, "Untitled," 2018. "I never realized how much work and family overlaps. In my photograph, there is a picture of my parents right next to my Dad's computer, where he's working. He told me that the picture helps motivate his work; seeing pictures of our family as he works helps remind him that he works hard every day for us."
Alejandra Medina, "Generations," 2018. "After her stroke, my mother thought she wouldn’t be able to take care of her granddaughter like she wanted to. Now that she’s getting better, she likes to hold her and play with her."
Aaron J. Blizard, "Generations," 2018. "My dad is a mechanic. He spends a lot of time traveling the world to make sure my family can have the best life. For this project I spent two weeks trying to photograph my father’s work. Given that he was never home, I had to find objects to capture his role in our family."
AH, "Untitled," 2018. "This is one of my favorite pictures from my work/family album. My tired dad is laying on the couch with my dog Orson. The couch is both their favorite spot in the house. My dad works very hard and I admire him for that. This photograph shows how even adults can get stressed out."
AZ, "Untitled," 2018. "My dad and I are heading from Texas to Oregon for a work trip. He decided to drive and took me with him. My dad’s a contractor, recently working with tiny houses. Since my parents are divorced, I only see him during the weekends, so these rare trips always mean a lot to me."
Aaron J. Blizard, "Untitled," 2018. "My dad is a mechanic. He spends a lot of time traveling the world to make sure my family can have the best life. For this project I spent two weeks trying to photograph my father’s work. Given that he was never home, I had to find objects to capture his role in our family. In his toolbox, there is a picture of me for long days."
Abbey Geeting, "Untitled," 2018. "This picture of my dad's desk shows a small part only of his big office at the winery. This is where he keeps calendars, various tables, lots of paperwork, and photos of my two younger sisters and me, and, old artwork of ours, too. His computer is here as well. I’m not really sure how much time he spends at his desk, but I do know that he goes in at least once everyday. His desk can get quite cluttered but he knows where everything is."
